Management team

José Alberto Ayala Ortiz

CEO – Pharmacovigilance Consultant

José Alberto Ayala Ortiz (M.Sc. Pharm. and M.Sc. IT) is an expert in the field of Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety. He has experience both from the Regulatory (Danish Medicines Agency), and from the Pharmaceutical Industry, where he has been responsible for IT systems and Electronic transmissions. 

Besides his day-to-day Pharmacovigilance work as a consultant, he is an active trainer of the EVWeb and XEVMPD training courses since 2003, and collaborates together with the training team, the EMA and the DIA in the development of these training courses. He provides also local QPPV services for Pharmaceutical Companies.

Elena Marín Cassinello

Head of Finance and Human Resources

Elena currently serves as Head of Finance and Human Resources at PVpharm, where she plays a central role in the company’s strategic and operational development. Her leadership extends beyond finance and HR, as she actively contributes her expertise across multiple areas of the organization.

With a strong background in pharmacovigilance, statistics, and research, Elena holds an Expert Degree in Pharmacovigilance from the University of Alcalá de Henares. She has been deeply involved in pharmacovigilance operations, serving as Deputy QPPV and Local Safety Officer for several projects at PVpharm.

Her experience includes pharmacovigilance intelligence, where she has worked with global regulatory information, as well as direct client interaction—supporting SOP development, regulatory guidance, and daily pharmacovigilance activities. She has also managed literature surveillance and the submission of ICSRs, SUSARs, and XEVMPD messages to health authorities.

Elena is a key figure at PVpharm, known for her versatility, technical knowledge, and commitment to excellence across all areas of her work.

Emma Cebrián

Head of Quality Assurance

Emma is a Quality Assurance & Compliance professional with more than 20 years of expertise in the Pharmaceutical Industry. During her career, working in different national and international MAHs, she has gained great expertise assessing and implementing GMPs and ISO regulations.  Emma has proven experience designing and ensuring compliance of Quality Systems, conducting Internal and External Audits, Risk Assessments and Corrective and Preventive Actions.

She has experience as Qualified Person and she is also contact person for Health Authorities (AEMPS, FDA, PMDA…), Notified Bodies (ON 0318, Kiwa Cermet Italia…), customers and Suppliers/CMOs.

Sergio Costa

Head of Business Development

Sérgio Costa is a dynamic professional with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a certification in Project Management, providing a strong foundation in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. With over 8 years of experience, he has built a versatile career spanning Operational Delivery, Business Development, and Account Management within the pharmaceutical and scientific consulting industries.
Before joining PVpharm, Sérgio held key roles at international service providers and specialized consultancies, where he managed global client accounts, led cross-functional teams, and supported strategic growth initiatives. His work has focused on aligning complex customer needs with tailored service solutions, delivering results across various geographies including Europe and Latin America.
At PVpharm, Sérgio is responsible for driving business development strategies, fostering client relationships, and supporting the company’s international expansion. His approach is marked by a strong focus on strategic alignment, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction. He plays a crucial role in ensuring that PVpharm’s services remain responsive, high-quality, and well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients worldwide.
Sérgio’s leadership, commercial acumen, and industry insight contribute directly to the growth and visibility of PVpharm, making him a key figure in advancing the company’s mission and long-term objectives.

Mayte Alonso

Head of Operations

Mayte Alonso is a pharmacist with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance, as well as a Postgraduate qualification in Pharmaceutical Management.

Earlier in her career, she served as Director of Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, and Medical Information in the field of scientific consulting. In this role, she led a multidisciplinary team and managed strategic international projects, contributing across all stages of the pharmaceutical lifecycle. Mayte also held senior positions in the Medical Departments of multinational pharmaceutical companies and worked with public institutions such as the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) and the Carlos III Health Institute, gaining extensive experience in both regulatory and industrial environments.

She is the Head of Operations at PVpharm. Her leadership is marked by a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and technical excellence, supported by a comprehensive 360° view of the pharmaceutical sector that will help PVpharm implement the expansion strategy, fostering collaboration with global clients and strengthening the company’s service offering across Spain, Europe, and Latin America.

Kamila Filipiak

Head of Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Safety

Kamila Filipiak (PhD in medicinal chemistry) is a pharmacovigilance specialist with more than 10 years of experience in Pharmacovigilance. She has been working for several years in international consultancy IQVIA where she was responsible for execution, delivery, and management of pharmacovigilance Remediation Projects. Since 2019 is part of PVpharm, where she has been taking responsibility roles, including project management for complex international projects and Deputy QPPV roles. She is Head of PVCS and oversees pharmacovigilance and clinical operations. 

Diana Campodónico

Head of Medical Department

M.D. Diana is Safety Physician and Head of the Medical Department at PVpharm. With more than 12 years of experience in the medical field, she has two medical specialties in Primary Care and in Clinical Pharmacology. She has been responsible for the Pharmacovigilance unit at the Clinical Trials Unit of Hospital La Princesa in Madrid. She is currently managing several projects in PVpharm, providing medical advice and managing the experienced team of medical experts at PVpharm.

Pharmacovigilance Classroom (Aula de Farmacovigilancia)

The Pharmacovigilance Classroom (Aula de Farmacovigilancia) is an initiative of PVpharm in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Granada.
